- Job Description:
This role engages with people, as a first point of contact, who may be experiencing crisis or have complex issues. The position supports other Uniting Vic Tas services such as Emergency Relief and Hartley’s café.
Our purpose is to equip consumers by building resilience and autonomy through positive and effective processes that will provide self-reliance. The position also acts to work with other staff in de-escalating behaviour when consumers become distressed or agitated.
- Requirement:
We are looking for a Mental Health Duty Worker who is able to work with people from all walks of life. The role will work closely with other Uniting Vic Tas services, and also other services within the Prahran and broader area. The ideal candidates will use their initiative, and source resources (including services) for people in need. You will have:
Cert IV in Mental Health / Peer Work / Disability Services / Community Services
Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapist
Experience working with people with a lived experience of mental health issues and/or psychosocial disability (preferred)
Demonstrated ability to work with people who are experiencing crisis or disadvantage
Demonstrated ability to work with people who have complex needs
De-escalation, negotiation and mediation
