The service will be available to all community members who have symptoms of psychological distress and mental ill health. The service will help participants to build/consolidate their capacity to better manage their mental illness or mental health symptoms, develop practical life skills for independent living and self-care, engage in community life, access other health and social support services they need and make the journey towards recovery and lead the life they envisage for themselves.
- Job Description:
Provide individual support, referral and advocacy with a focus on supporting and strengthening supports for LGBQTIA+ members of the community.
Build, educate and support a volunteer network to improve community connection and increase people's natural supports
Develop strong partnerships with clinical and community services to strengthen the participation of people in their own community networks
Support the delivery of peer and community education programs in the Barwon region
Act up or stand in for the Senior Community Engagement Worker when need be
Co locate when needed
Provide support for individuals enquiries as they arrive at the office
Support and provide information for report writing, evaluation and program updates where needed
Participate in monthly supervision with Senior LGBTIQ+ Community Engagement Worker
- Requirement:
Your new role will provide support to people affected by mental health issues with individual support, referral, and advocacy as well as access to peer group support and educational programs. The role also involves supporting the volunteer and student placement program, HACC -PYP program and the carers respite program. This role will have a specific focus on strengthening and maintaining positive relationships within the Great South Coast.
Relevant Tertiary Qualifications in a social science or related discipline
Current valid Driver's License and the ability to undertake some travel
Appropriate IT and Microsoft Office Suite skills

Experience with facilitating group spaces (peer and education spaces preferred)
