Emergency Department - Peer Support Worker
- Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated peer support worker, to work as part of a team to actively engage our emergency department consumers. Peer workers will work alongside EMH and ED clinical staff to help provide the very best care to consumers in a high pressure environment. You will also provide referrals for suitable consumer to our many other peer support post discharge programs.

Empower consumers to make their own choices about their treatment and recovery with an emphasis on strengthening their internal resources to move forward.
High level of resilience and the ability to work in a high pressure environment
Support individuals to create external links in the community for ongoing support.
Assist consumers by ensuring they actively participate in their own identified recovery goals.
Work with a clinical team, requires an understanding of how mental health services work, a resilient and positive approach, and good communication skills.
All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Record Check, and where applicable, Working With Children Check (WWCC). All RMH employees are required to provide evidence of an immunisation assessment including evidence of vaccination against COVID-19 (3 doses) and Influenza with a TGA approved vaccine (mandatory for all clinical and or patient facing roles) prior to commencement. This is in accordance with the Victorian Minister of Health’s Mandatory Vaccination Orders for COVID-19 and legislated requirement for influenza vaccination.
