Mercy Mental Health (South West Area Mental Health Service) is a public mental health service supporting people in south west metropolitan Melbourne with severe and complex mental illnesses by providing acute and community-based care. Services are available to adults through acute inpatient programs, residential rehabilitation programs and crisis and community recovery-focused treatment programs. We also deliver inpatient and community specialist perinatal mental health services to women and infants in western Victoria.

- Job Description:
Fixed Term Employment Commencing July 2023 – 31st December 2023
shifts of 8 hour duration
Minimum 16 hours a fortnight, maximum of 72 hours per fortnight (30 shift TOTAL for the life of the contract)
Shifts: AM and PM hours, Monday to Sunday (can include public holidays)
Positions are located across the Mercy Mental health Program including: Werribee Mercy Hospital - Clare Moore Building or Community Care Unit (Werribee), Wyndham, and Footscray and Burnside campuses.
Attending orientation and supervision provided by Mental Health education staff
- Requirement:
Currently enrolled in the 2nd or 3rd year of the Bachelor of Social Work
High level of interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
Demonstrated understanding of person-centred care and ability to work well in a team environment
Desire to learn about mental illness and how to care for Consumers in a safe, compassionate and evidenced based way.
