Exciting Carer Peer Support role
Part Time position - working a rotating roster
Post Discharge Mental Health Support Program based at Royal Melbourne Hospital
- Job Description:
Provide direct peer support to any family member/carer within the service through face-to-face or telephone/online meetings
Give practical advice and support to reduce the isolation that carers can experience through times of crisis
Acknowledge the critical role of family/carers in recovery as well as the importance of linking family/carers into support for themselves
Provide carers with emotional and practical support and help to identify their information and support needs
- Requirement:
Extensive experience in supporting an adult with mental ill health who has used public mental health services
Demonstrated ability to engage individuals or families through telephone, face to face or online meetings in an empathic manner
Capable of utilising your personal experience appropriately for the benefit of other carers
Passionate about helping others and understand peer support principles
Resilient, empathetic and self-awarene with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
